Update Your LinkOut Holdings

If you are providing your users in PubMed with FULLTEXT links via, for instance, SFX you have to make a new XML file and update your LinkOut files! Thanks to the Krafty Librarian. "Elsevier will be taking over the submission of links for titles published by Mosby and Saunders. These publishers are now part of Elsevier's Health Sciences Division. If you have any Mosby and Saunders titles in your library's LinkOut holdings you need to update your holdings information and select Elsevier as the provider. This effects all of the Mosby titles and the following Saunders titles: Adv Neonatal Care 1536-0911 Am J Contact Dermat 1046-199X Am J Emerg Med 0735-6757 Am J Kidney Dis 0272-6386 Am J Otolaryngol 0196-0709 Ann Diagn Pathol 1092-9134 Appl Nurs Res 0897-1897 Arch Phys Med Rehabil 0003-9993 Arch Psychiatr Nurs 0883-9417 Arthroscopy 1526-3231 Clin Gastroenterol Hepatol 1542-3565 Compr Psychiatry 0010-440x Gastroenterology 0016-5085 Hepatology 0270-9139 Human pathology 0046-8177 J arthroplasty 0883-5403 J Card Fail 1071-9164 J Cardiothorac Vasc Anesth 1053-0770 J Electrocardiol 0022-0736 J foot ankle surg 1067-2516 J Hand Surg [Am] 0363-5023 J Oral Maxillofac Surg 0278-2391 J Pediatr Nurs 0882-5963 J Pediatr Oncol Nurs 1043-4542 j pediatr surg 0022-3468 J Perianesth Nurs 1089-9472 J Prosthodont 1059-941X Liver Transpl 1527-6465 Metabolism 0026-0495 Prog Cardiovasc Dis 0033-0620 Reg Anesth Pain Med 1098-7339 Semin Arthritis Rheum 0049-0172 Semin Clin Neuropsychiatry 1084-3612 Seminars in nuclear medicine 0001-2998 Seminars in oncology 0093-7754 Semin Pediatr Infect Dis 1045-1870 Semin Respir Infect 0882-0546 Vet Surg 0161-3499 " Categories: , , ,

KOPERNIO extension to find PDF's : plus Open Access button, Unpaywall, Google Scholar and Connect UPDATED!

UPDATE:  Clarivate Analytics Acquires Research Startup Kopernio to Accelerate Pace of Scientific Innovation I am currently testing 4 browser extensions in Chrome that can help me find the PDF i need. They seem to be popping up like dandelions in the fields ;-) (Please read my post on ALL possible options to get to a PDF:  http://digicmb.blogspot.nl/2017/03/how-to-get-pdf-infographic.html ) Here is a first glance of what they do. For testing i used this article: http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.cub.2016.10.008   (not free or open access) Kopernio (previously  Canary Haz ( http://kopernio.com) Note this is a .com extension. This  new company  has been founded just 8 months ago. The Kopernio  extension was released just in March 2017. Currently the Kopernio button is in alpha-testing and so far it seems free. The previous name appeared to be a tribute to the #ICANHAZPDF movement (requesting pdf's via Twitter with this hashtag). ...

Updates from Journal Apps (BrowZine, docwise, ReadbyQxMD, Docphin)

Here a short overview of all new updates around the Journal apps we are supporting. Personally I am most excited about the anouncements of " docwise " making big steps to keep up with BrowZine & Read (Integration -"Open in"- with Dropbox, Evernote and more, save and email full text articles), but making a hug jump with unique features, like shareable Folders with docwise users ánd a RSS reader feature (boldly called Google Reader replacement!). Bring it on! BrowZine : just published the Android Version of their App to which the CMB UMCG now has a subscription. To be downloaded from Google Play Store or Amazon App Store the following publishers have been added  Project MUSE Cambridge University Press American Marketing Association Academy of Management Royal Society of Chemistry Institute of Physics American Physical Society Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) American Geophysical Union International Society for Optics a...

11 Ways to calculate (your) H-Index : free and otherwise

I bumped into a blog post from ChemConnectorBlog about free tools to calculate your h-index. This was posted already in 2011 and I got curious if there would be more tools available right now. Here is a short summary of tools that can be used: (If I missed some, please let me know via Comments please!) The Central Medical Library advices to use Web of Science (ISI)  to calculate your h-index. Within the UMCG this is still the generally accepted citation resource & tool. We help patrons setting up their ResearcherID and Google Scholar Citations. ResearcherID from Thomson Reuters   offers Citation Metrics, including your h-index to be calculated from your publications. We calculate the h-index for patrons on request either via  Web of Science (ISI)  or via "Publish or Perish" This free software makes it possible for librarians (or patrons) to create the h-index for themselves or for others.(Note: risk of getting banned temporarily from Google Scholar ...
