After enjoying listening to Last.fm (THE social music channel/player) for a long time. I decided to try if my organisation is ready for some social software and " sharing".
After seeing the great example of Stockholm University with their Stockholm University Group Radio, I made the group University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) at http://www.last.fm/group/UMCG.
It's a free & open group, so if you want to join, please do!
Last.fm offers you unlimited music to listen to. Just enter the name of a band or artist you want to listen to .. et voila.
You will get detailed information about the music, and will be abled to listen to an unlimited range of tracks and groups that are simular or somehow connected to your entered band or track.
You can then rate the music and share it with others. That's the strenght of Last.fm. By joining the UMCG group, a special UMCG Radio channel is created based upon the tracks all members of that group have been listening to.
You can use Last.fm as a installed application on your computer & laptop or use it from the web.
Just create your own user account via " Sign In".
Add your favourite music, and listen to unexpected and new music.
To anticipate the enthusiastic library staff of the RUG, I created a BibliotheekRUG Group as well at: http://www.last.fm/group/BibliotheekRUG;-)
Join That Too! Or just listen to it's own BibliotheekRUG Radio!

I am still trying to create and improve the DIGICMB Universe and now they tell me I could also have it as an EMBEDDED Universe INSIDE my own (library) website. Check here the Premium Universe of Le Figaro Newspaper web site called Myfigaro and you will see the Url is: http://www.lefigaro.fr/monfigaro/ . However, Fred Mini , Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Netvibes , in his French blogs adds "for those interested" that these Premium Universe are "Not for Free"... Read more about Premium Universes at the blog called NETVIBER EXPERIENCE. This Premium Universe gives freedom for more customization and advertising. I will get info on how much it costs soon, i hope. Tags: netvibes , universe , premium , rss , personalisation , sharing , publish , library , libraries , api , widgets , feeds , tab s
